Veronica Mars

The title character— a student, progressing from high school to college during the series — who moonlights as a private investigator under the wing of her detective father. Said to be a little bit Buffy and a little bit Bogart, the show balances murder mystery, high school and college drama, and social commentary with considerable sarcasm and offbeat humor.

Seriously, did you even think it was going to take this long for me to hear about it? Ok, ok. I admit. Initially, I thought of it as a chick-flick series, as it where advertised on tv.com and other places, so I paid no interest to the subject whatsoever. A really bad horror movie appeared one day on dvd, so, obviously, I had to watch it. Guess what? It starred the lovely Kristen Bell. Obviously, because of the neccesary, yet superb nudity, I had to find out more about her, thus I wikid her and found out what her show was actually about. Had some doubts at first, I agree, seeing as I’m a lover of the noirs, but hey, if Brick could pull it off, why couldn’t this one? So I got a hold of the first season and watched it. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean watch, I meant savored it. Loved it. Every fracking minute of it. The dark humor, the crazy twists, the great stories, the well drawn characters, everything. I even skipped over the fact that I hate Amanda Seyfried because she’s ugly and talentless. Now, after two days and twenty two episodes later, I bow to thee. I can’t even remember the last time I was this excited about a wonderfully written and acted tv show. Probably last month when I (re)watched two seasons of The West Wing. Or Sports Night before that. Or House before that. Or BSG before that. Anyway, the point is VM is awesome.
Here’s what some great minds said about it:

* Joss Whedon : “Best. Show. Ever. Seriously, I’ve never gotten more wrapped up in a show I wasn’t making, and maybe even more than those. (…) These guys know what they’re doing on a level that intimidates me.”

* Kevin Smith : “It’s, hands-down, the best show on television right now, and proof that TV can be far better than cinema.”

* Stephen King: “Nancy Drew meets Philip Marlowe, and the result is pure nitro.” “Why is Veronica Mars so good? It bears little resemblance to life as I know it, but I can’t take my eyes off the damn thing.”

Now, shush, little ones, let me be, I must convince the prowess night elves that reside in my Ethernet Adapter to get me the second season and whatever aired of season three. Powerful little fists!
