Light rain all day long. February hates me. Not something insufferable, just really annoying. We had a stroll walking towards Chateau de Vincennes and then decided to try the park, the awe-inspiring Bois de Vincennes, the park that’s three times bigger than NY’s Central Park and four times bigger than London’s Hyde Park. After an hour or so into it, we got lost and it took us another hour or so of closely following signs to get back to civilization. Tired, bored and annoyed by the rain, we came home for lunch, followed by Bigbro leaving for work and me embracing my books.
Speaking of – just finished The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. It is a fantastic read…most of the time. The first two thirds of the book are a eye-stunning, life-changing, mood-lifting, well-researched fairy-tale, and I love it, a love that can be compared to Before Sunrise. The last third however, the plot changes shift and moves well into creepy, disappointing, crude, bitter and just too damn realistic life drama, one that you can’t fault for existing, with whom you have a love-hate relationship, one that can be compared to Before Sunset. The book is, in fact, a bitter-sweet fantasy whose only fault is it’s length – overlong, especially in the end, to the point of boredom - a fault can be easily ignored therefore making it a essential read for anyone with a pulse. I can’t wait to get my hands on The Yiddish Policemen’s Union. Still dealing with Light Music, but also starting Straight Man.
